Certification Process (中文 )

The Certification process of Chiu Chuk Kai Tai Chi Praying Mantis International Association will commence January 1, 2007. Application for certification is now accepted. Three kinds of certificates are available. They are classified as Interm Instructor certificate, Assistant Instructor certificate, and Full Instructor Diploma.

Grandmaster Chiu’s only son, Chiu Hon Lun, will be leading the examination committee for the certification process. Examination will be serious and straight. It must follow all the fundamentals as taught by the late Grandmaster Chiu Chuk Kai. It is straightly prohibited to lengthen, shorten, add, subtract, elaborate and/or exaggerate any of the original martial arts forms, fighting forms, and basic training material. It must adhere to the Tai Chi Praying Mantis’ original martial arts expression (i.e. mantis hands, monkey footwork, and the late Grandmaster Chiu’s teaching of the 5 arrivals.)

After passing the exam, appropriate certificate will be issued for the successful candidate.

For the purpose of economizing time and resources needed for certification, please submit in advance an essay on the subject of personal insights in the art and a video recording (DVD only) of all the required materials for preliminary screening prior to the examination, which will be held in HK for the duration of one or two days.

Application and examination fees will be administrated by the surviving spouse of late Grandmaster Chiu (address to be provided upon request) and portion of it will go to the operating cost of the Alumni.

Application Procedure:

1. Submit an essay on the subject of personal insights of the practice in the capacity of an instructor. Please include information on teacher and personal background.

2. Submit a video recording of all the required materials (i.e. forms). Please send in DVD format.

3. A non refundable regristration fee of $50.00 USD or $400.00 HKD is required and accepted in money order ONLY. Please note that personal cheque will not be accepted.

Certification Fees (after passing the exam):

Interm Instructor certificate= $200 USD or $1,600 HKD

Assistant Instructor certificate= $500 USD or $4,000 HKD (certificate)

Full Instructor Diploma= $1,000 USD or $8,000 HKD
